2nd SBW, Part 3

I love the moon and couldn't help but take a picture of good, ol' Southwark Cathedral with Mia Luna. Now for you 'landlubbers' who don't speak 'the Queen's English' you might think it should be called South-wark (stress on the 'w') Cathedral, but you'd be wrong...See it's been here so long that a peculiar element of evolution has occurred: that useless 'o' in South has disappeared, as well as that annoying 'w' in wark and while we're at it, why don't we just make the 'ar' in wark become an 'uh'. So after eons this 'natural' preening process has created the very modern and catchy name of 'Suthuck' - that is literally how you say it folks! Go figure, but who am I to correct the English on their English? ;) But this did literally open my eyes to the prejudice English has for the 'w' - just think how you say 'answer', 'sword', etc. Discrimination! How would you feel if you were 'included', but not really?

Oh hallowed day, methinks me eyes do look upon and behold the world-famous Globe! Theatre, that's 're' to you 'mericans ;) The cool story with this is that the American actor, Sam Wannamaker, came to London in the 1960s(?) and was 'horrified' to find only a plaque near a pub that indicated that the Globe once stood there - he made it his quest to build it and did before he passed away.
And to top the evening off, a loverly view of Parliament. We learned that Westminster Bridge is green because it's closest to the 'House of Commons' (whose seats are green) part of Westminster Palace and that off to the left, Lambeth Bridge is red because it's closer to the 'House of Lords' (whose seats are red) part of the palace. Color coordination, no 'u', I feel rebellious right now, is the name of the game in politics on the Thames!
